What does Chrysalis Mean?

We always find it interesting, the meanings that people have associated with our humble name over the years.

The most common misconception is that our name is some sort of acronym, representing the names of our directors. With Chris Mills being our Managing Director, it's not uncommon for us to be asked "So where is Alice?". Chris-Alice..... get it?

Anyway...

Flattered as we are by the attention our name gets from time to time, we thought it best to explain things a bit on our website, for all the world to see:

Simply put, a Chrysalis (pronounced chris·a·lis) is another name for the pupa of a butterfly enclosed in a cocoon. It may also be defined as any protected stage of development.

In the case of the caterpillar, it will encase itself in a Chrysalis then, after a few days re-emerge to the world as a butterfly. Hence, our butterfly logo.
